More 5ks!

Run a 5k this six weeks.  One suggestion would be the Nature Park Trail Run on Saturday, December 1. The Sidekick is also sponsoring a 5k in partnership with Taylor's Gift.  You can sign up at lunches for this one which will be held at Andy Brown on Saturday, December 8.  Another suggestion would be the Dallas Jingle Bell Run.  This is a night run on Wednesday, December 19.  As with all runs, write a brief reflection of your thoughts and upload a picture of you at the event to the class Photobucket account.

  1. Instead of running the Jingle Bell Run I did the Dallas (White Rock) Marathon. It is a run I do with my family every year but this year my sister and I ran the half marathon instead of the rely. As always the turn out is huge and it's always fun to see all the runners dressed up in weird costumes. My sister and I both clocked in at 2 hours and 16 mins and after training for several months it felt good to finally get the run other and done with.

  2. Participating in the Deck the Trails run was so much fun! Although I have done the Turkey Trot and Jingle Bell Run in the past, this was my first time to ever do a race in through trails and other rough terrain. It was also my first time to ever participate in one of the community's local races, so it was cool to see other people I knew dressed up and in the holiday spirit. I'm not a serious runner or anything like some of the other people that were there, but I am really looking forward to participating in more races in the future!

  3. The Deck the Trails run was my first 5k to ever participate in. I thought it was really fun and I hope I can do more 5ks. I think they are a good way to get in shape and have fun while doing them! Deck the Trails was at the Coppell Nature Park. You could participate in the 5k or the fun run, so I did both. Running through the rough terrain was a very different experience, but very enjoyable. This event sparked my interest in 5ks and I hope I participate in many more races to come!

  4. I ran the Jingle Bell Run on Wednesday night, and it was so much fun! It was my first non-local 5k to run, so it was a very different experience! There were so many people, and I really enjoyed seeing all of the different costumes people (and animals) attempted to run in, which was a very wide spectrum. It ranged from someone in a head-to-toe Grinch suit to a tiny yorkie in a sweater with bells. My experience from last night definitely makes me want to run in another well known 5k.

  5. I ran in the Jingle Bell run this Wednesday night. It was a lot of fun! This was only my second 5K to ever run in and because there were so many people there it was a lot of fun. I liked petting the random dogs that everyone brought and Ozzie the Pomeranian was my favorite. Everyone just seemed like they were in the Christmas spirit and it was fun to be in such a lively crowd. I want to do many more 5Ks in the future!

  6. I participated in the Jingle Bell Run last night, and really enjoyed it. I go on frequent runs by myself; however, this was my first time to ever sign up and run in a 5k. It was amazing how much more motivating it is to run with thousands of other people than it is by yourself! People were dressed from head-to-toe in christmas lights, santa costumes, and cardboard boxes wrapped in wrapping paper. It was so fun and I felt so accomplished afterwards- not only because working out is so rewarding, but also because we were all running for such a good cause! Overall, it was a great experience, and I really hope to run more 5ks very soon!

  7. On Wednesday night, I participated in the Jingle Bell run and I am so glad I did! It was tons of fun and I plan to attend the run every year now. There were so many people there and everyone was so full of Christmas spirit. People were lighting up and dressed as everything you could imagine: elves, santas, snowmen, gingerbread men... you name it! People even dressed up their dogs. It was so motivational to see all the people there. I even ran part of it, which encouraged me to try and run the whole time the next time I run the 5k. It was such a wonderful experience and a great way to get in the Christmas spirit!

  8. Last year, I participated in the Jingle Bell Run in Dallas, except I just walked the fun run. This year, however,I motivated myself to run the entire 5K. It was extremely difficult, but at the end I was really proud of myself for finishing. I want to do more runs in the future now that I know I can do it! This was a great run to help get me started.

  9. Last night I did the Jingle Bell Run! It was fun because I had never run with other people before. I usually just run alone. This time, it was kind of hard to pace myself because I was towards the front of the starting group and it was very crowded. I kept bumping into people, but that is probably due to my extreme awkwardness and clumsiness. However, I finished in 27 minutes and was really happy I ran the entire thing because I have bad knees after my surgery, so it is an accomplishment in itself just to last that long on concrete. It was a little demoralizing to see that the top finisher only took 15 min and 25 sec to finish. That sounds very painful. Oh well, good for him/her. It was funny to see all the different costumes. I saw a group of girls dressed as gifts, a man in a full Santa suit (he of course walked), and even saw a dog dressed as an elf. It was a fun experience and I will definitely do it again!
